US Route 1 Improvements at Fort Belvoir – Partnering Charter

We, the US Route 1/Ft. Belvoir Team, agree to work together to hold ourselves accountable to design and construct the roadway widening and all project-related support and facilities.  We will deliver the project with the least amount of impacts to the surrounding environment, historic, residential and business communities, Fort Belvoir and the traveling public.

We will use Partnering principles and open communication to meet the following goals:

  • Construct the project safely
  • Complete project on time and on budget
  • Resolve issues in a timely manner at the lowest possible level
  • Respect the financial interests of the major stakeholders
  • Provide high quality in every aspect at all times through an empowered  QA/QC program
  • Minimize impact to the traveling public (vehicle, pedestrians and bicycles)  and the operations of local businesses
  • Review and respond to design submittals and RFIs in a timely manner
  • Keep local community regularly informed of major events and traffic switches; avoid local roads for all material delivery and hauling and respond to Community inquiries quickly
  • Respect the Historic Nature of the area along the roads alignment
  • Treat all team members and stakeholders respectfully
